Canadian Transportation & Distribution Logistics
The Canadian Transportation & Distribution Logistics microcredential from CITT – Canada’s Logistics Association – provides learners working in the supply chain logistics and transportation sector with the foundational knowledge, skills and abilities to support a rewarding career in this complex, fast-paced industry.
The two-course microcredential starts with Transportation Systems, a deep dive into transportation of goods and materials from a Canadian perspective, including a detailed overview of the five modes of cargo transportation, including the relative benefits and trade-offs of each mode, and special considerations of cargo transportation including small package transportation (couriers), transportation intermediaries, intermodalism, and transportation of dangerous goods.
The second course, Logistics Processes, looks at how to maneuver materials, finished goods and information efficiently through all points and processes before, between and after transportation links, connecting multi-modal transportation to the wider supply chain. Topics include transportation management, warehousing and materials management & unitization, procurement of logistics services & contracting, risk management including marine insurance, customs and compliance, and international trade.
In addition to the Canadian Transportation & Distribution Logistics microcredential, completing this program also earns learners the first two logistics credits in the program of study towards CITT’s CCLP® (CITT-Certified Logistics Professional) designation.
